five..

Somehow this kid turned FIVE this past Thursday. He wasn’t convinced that he was actually five, because apparently he wasn’t tall enough. I disagree! Now that we had a full weekend of celebrating, which included 4 of his cousins sleeping over (that will be a whole blog post on its own!), he will finally tell you that he is in fact five.

For the birthday treat, we made brownie cupcakes with a peanut butter frosting. Thanks to Pittsburgh’s own Emily Levenson for that recipe.

before she was one..

how cute are those chubby little legs? on Thursday, she will be the big ONE! she is one of the few babies my son likes, and they share a birthday. how special is that! obviously, she was much younger when this photo session took place. now, she doesn’t need so much help standing. :)

love…

this is my first time sharing an engagement session on the blog. truthfully, it makes me a little nervous cosidering it’s not my norm! it was my third engagement session, the others just never made it on the blog unfortunately! they were my third session that weekend, so it is always a treat to photograph people who would listen and didn’t run in the opposite direction. although occasionally their parents were a little hard to wrange together, ha!

heart day…

For a couple of weeks, I have had a Valentine’s Day shoot idea in my head swirling around. I never got around to do it. The kids didn’t even want to make their Valentine, so I know a photoshoot was out of the question. Maybe next year… :)

On Friday night we went to Right By Nature’s Friday Fest. I told the kids to get some clothes on, and they both came down the stairs all jazzed up. Of course I had to take a few photos of their creations, ha!

Today the hubster and I were able to enjoy a morning in the Strip District while the kids were in school. I came home to find a bouquet of daisies sitting at the front door. It was our tenth Valentine’s Day together, which just seems crazy. For dinner we purchased some heart raviolis from Whole Foods. How cute are they? The photo is a bit blah, as we ate by candle light..fancy! I hope your “heart” day was just as lovely!

first steps…

This session was so fun, that we decided to do it again the following weekend. Well, it was fun, but that’s not why we had to do a re-shoot. Unfortunately I had a lens that stopped focusing, and I wasn’t aware of it until I began editing this session. So dissapointing, but thankfully we had another beautiful Saturday! It was also great because the little girl began standing on her own and taking a few steps since the first session. It was exciting to be able to capture that for mom and dad!

distracted…

I met up with these friends with right before they were going to go and play at the library. It is always exciting for me to photograph my friends baby belly’s. Her son was very distracted by all of the buses driving by. Thankfully for him it was just a mini-session! Afterwards I shot my first roll of film since high school, and it was my first time shooting with a Holga, with my friend Kristy Lumsden…which is still sitting in my fridge waiting to be developed.
