shiny, happy people…

there was a chance of rain the day of this session, we decided to just go for it because we had already rescheduled once due to rain. it was sprinkling when i went into Oakland, so we went straight into taking photos. thankfully they brought an umbrella and we were able to find some cover when the downpour started. the focus during the rain was getting some family shots, so i could meet up with mama and her children another day. it worked out really well in the end and is truly a beautiful session!

high jumps and rolling down hills…

First I have to say it is such a treat to photograph some older kids. I have had so many newborn and toddler sessions this year, and well, they are a lot of work! These two siblings had a fun time jumping off steps and rolling down the hill. I believe there was some Star Wars talk as well. We met at Mellon park because this is where mom and dad had their wedding. Unfortunaley the main part was under construction so we had no access. It is now finished and I must say it is very nice! It is a great park to take your dog to and have a picnic with your family. Personally, it is one of my favorite parks to visit in Pittsburgh.

And seriously, I can’t help but smile when I look at these photos!

missing the beach…

With the date being August 31, I feel like our summer is over. Our daughter started school last week and our son had his pre-kindergarten orientation this morning. He will be starting next week along with all of the other kids in the Pittsburgh Public Schools. Our daughter wasn’t so happy that she had to start more than a week sooner than her brother, but I guess that is how it works with charter schools.

We had a great summer, besides it ending so quickly. There was camping trips (and hopefully we can fit a few more in!), baseball games, library visits (including the grand opening of the newly renovated East Liberty library), long visits to the park, sibling rivalry, eyeglasses for our son, ice cream trucks, sewing, thrift store shopping, visits to Vanilla and Dozen for cupcakes, canoeing at Cook Forest, kayaking at Lake Elizabeth, skateboarding in parking lots, swimming, naps, bike rides through our neighborhood, new tattoos, hiking in Frick Park, many picnics which usually included our own family baseball game and I am sure there is quite a few things I missed. I am sad to see summer go and the kids spending their days in school, but the cooler weather will be nice along with coffee shop visits with the mister.

babies in ties…

I may just have to make a bunch of these onesies with ties on them for future clients. Isn’t it adorable? I had to reschedule this session once because my daughter was sick. Mama wanted to get them done asap, before he got too chunky. I saw them at a picnic two weeks later, and she was right. It is amazing how quickly babies grow!

rain showers…

you can tell by the way this family is dressed how long ago this session took place. it is now hot, humid and miserable. i am so far behind in posting sessions, yikes! on this session, it was a rainy day but we had already rescheduled due to the rain the prior weekend. the rain never did pass over, so we made the best of the situation. umbrellas and boots always make fun props!

so sunny..

due to leaving a few minutes late, then construction and bridges being closed, i was very late for this session. thankfully the little girl was able to stay awake (yay for lunch breaks!) through the session. i was also thankful for cute polk a dot rugs, covered forts and porches for shade. there wasn’t a single cloud in the sky this day! very sweet kids, and the boy was full of energy..go figure! :)
