My nephew again. He very nicely gave me a few minutes of his time, which I very much appreciated. I haven’t been taking very many pictures lately. I need to pick my camera up more often and learn something new about it. I have been shooting with manual outside, but it is more of a hit and miss. I don’t understand how the settings all work together, and that is something I really need to start reading up on!

The only good thing about it snowing in April is the fact that I finally photographed my little ones in their matching sweaters. It’s something I have wanted to do since I bought them, but I could just never get the shot I had in my head. This still isn’t it, but it’s the best so far!

My friend and I took our oldest children shopping today. I was able to snap some photos of the girls. These were shot in auto. I tried manual, but they were underexposed, and there were people everywhere, so I just put it on auto, with the flahs disabled as I am not comfortable enough yet to quickly change my settings. These are by no means technically correct - but I think they’re really fun!

Today I was trying to watch my focus points…I am not sure if I got them right or not. I need to read my manual and see how I adjust them myself. I can really see myself improving on composition. Most of my shots today were slightly under exposed, or were blown out in some spots. Practice, practice, practice some more I guess!

Just a quick post. I met a new friend today, Heather. The top little girl is hers. I had so much fun taking pictures with her. Although more than half of my images came out underexposed, I feel like I am improving on composition. And I also learned to take my shudder speed WAY up in bright sunlight! This evening I also photographed my niece, who was such a great model. She really enjoyed it, probably because her mom isn’t constantly making her pose for pictures!

The weather was nice today…it reached 50 degrees! So naturally I took the kids out for some practice. My biggest mistake? I forgot to change my ISO. I had it set on 1600 from being inside. So all of my images were grainy. Most of them were underexposed, as I shot in manual. I fixed them as much as I could in photoshop, and I am happiest with these three.

These were taken over the weekend. I posted them on ILP for CC, so these are the edited versions using their advice. With my daughters pictures, I played around with the colors a little bit differently that I normally do. I am not sure if I like it or not.

I am having a dilemma with my camera. I wish I would have thought and read a little more before I bought it. But it seems like I am going to have to wait. I am probably the most impatient person.

For some good news, I am going to be having my first [practice] session! I am really excited. A friend is pregnant and due next month, so it should be fun.
