something that i need to keep reminding myself to do is to stop complaining about all of this snow. we had the most beautiful fall here in pittsburgh! this shoot was from mid-december, and i believe it was in the upper 40’s, possibly the mid 50’s. his mama and i were both praying for some warmer temps beforehand, so i am sure that helped too!
i did his newborn shoot, and it has been so much fun to see him grow into a toddler. we have playgroup together on thursdays, and my son has never ever liked children smaller than himself. now he calls this little guy his “baby friend.” i love it!

Lately, my kids have been playing a lot of “house” as I called it growing up, and they completely crack me up with the things they come up with. The other day when we were on our way home from school, they decided to be brother and sister (go figure!) and I was their babysitter. There conversation went something like this…
Daughter: I can’t go to the birthday party because girls can’t go
Son: Uh huh, girls can go now
Me: Whose birthday party are you going to?
Daughter: I don’t know his name because I wasn’t invited
Son: He doesn’t have a name
Me: What did you buy him for his present?
Son: My mom bought him all kind of birthday stuff
Me: What kind of birthday stuff?
Son: Like cake, cereal…and…cupcakes and pizza
Daughter: Well I didn’t get him anything because I didn’t know I was allowed to go
Son: I will make him something then, and you can carry it in
Me: What are you going to make him?
Son: A light saber, and he said he wants the whole galaxy
Daughter: Well, now he is just being greedy
Son: I am going to call my mom and ask her to buy an Anakin costume at Target. Do you have a phone?
Daughter: I was texting too much at school so my teacher threw it away
*****
I had to cut in there, and get out of character. I had no idea my daughter even knew what texting was. haha!

two blog posts in one day..wow! i wanted to get these posted today, because tomorrow will be the newborn session of the new baby. i love photographing toddlers. they are so shy at first, but quickly warm up. he was such a sweet boy and loved his thomas trains.
i have no idea of what happened, but after uploading these photos they seem to have lost some color. i will have to fix that later. right now i need to go get my own kiddos some dinner, and then out to learn to crochet with jill of D.R. photography and design..i’m excited.

somehow a month has gone by since my last blog post. we had a great Christmas and New Year, and i hope you all did too. perhaps in the next week i will blog a few personal photos from the last month, but for now here are some photos that i really, really wanted to post before Christmas. knitting presents, baking, school parties, and taking care of last minute orders and photo shoots got in the way that…
it was super cold and snowing for this session, which resulted in only about 45 minutes of actual shooting time. looking back at these, i have no idea of how they handled having their coats off. i was beyond freezng! there was a small break at the dunkin’ donuts to get warmed up. it was her first donut, so that was fun to see. once again, this is the third time i have been able to photograph this family and she is turning into one beautiful little girl!

During Christmas, I tend to put my camera away and only pull it out for sessions. It is definitely my busiest time of the year, and it is super easy to get burnt out and just not have the desire to photograph my own children’s moments. I have made it a point to pull the camera out a little more over the last two weeks, and take some snap shots. The lighting wasn’t ideal in any of these shots, but they make me smile anyways.
I hope you all can take a moment to relax with your children, and enjoy the spirit of Christmas with them. We have been enjoying talking about the birth of Jesus, and also getting our kids to be slightly more compliant with the threat of them going on Santa’s naughty list..
